In November 1966, the Harlow Car Heather project was established when the council of the Northern Horticultural Society endorsed a plan submitted by the Heather Society to combine in the creation of a comprehensive heather garden. Alongside this endevour trials were conducted to compare and record every authentically named heather that could be secured at the time. Heather Society members from the Northern and Midlands contributed plants and cuttings. The PDF below are the reports of those trials.
A good piece of Heather History.
