Deep mauve (H3) flowers, VIII–IX; dark green foliage; prostrate; height 10–15cm; spread 31–45cm. Similar to, but more floriferous than, ‘Mrs Ronald Gray‘.
Wild-collected; found in Dorset, England, by former surgeon to H. M. The Queen, before 1973; introduced by Knap Hill Nursery (Woking, Surrey).
Lady Maithe has not been identified, but presumably she was the wife of the royal surgeon.
