Wild-collected; found on Ginkelse Heide near Arnhem, Netherlands, by Dr Ir T. Visser (Wageningen, Netherlands); introduced by W. Haalboom & Zonen (Driebergen, Netherlands) by 1972.

Named after Dr Visser’s daughter.

‘Mina’ {Gardengirls®}

♤ Bud-flowering (Knospenblüher), red; X-XII; foliage very dark black-green; green when young; habit upright, to 50cm tall × 50cm across after 4 years (pruned).
“Blüht ab: KW 41. Die schwarzlaubige Sorte ‘Mina’ erhält durch die erst spät erscheinenden roten Knospen ein ganz spezielles Erscheinungsbild.”

Deliberately raised seedling, raised in October 2010, selected in October 2011.

Named by Johannes van Leuven after his grandmother: “she loved flowers”.

This bud-bloomer with red (H6) buds has a very low-growing, creeping habit that can be lead shoots to “weep” when the plant is grown in a suitable container, was selected and named by Kurt Kramer, Edewecht, Germany, and introduced as part of the “Garden Girls” series,

The name ‘Maite’ should be pronounced “my-ta”. The name is a short form of Maria Theresa, and originated in the Basque country in the north-east of Spain. The name also means “lovely one”.

Seedling; found by Sir George Taylor in Major & Mrs G. Neil Collins’s garden at Inverchapel Lodge, Loch Eck, Scotland, in 1970.

Named after Major C. N. Collins’s wife.

Deliberately raised cross by Kurt Kramer, made in 2007 between unnamed seedlings, selected in 2008. Has bigger buds than ‘Madonna’ and is more resistant against fungi.
